October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month: a time to stand with survivors and help build safer communities. Domestic violence affects people everywhere- including right here in Williamson County. At Bridges Domestic Violence Center, we provide safety, shelter, and support to help survivors rebuild their lives free from abuse.
How to Identify the Signs:
Abuse isn’t always physical. It can include emotional control, isolation, financial restriction, or constant monitoring. Signs may include frequent injuries, fearfulness, or a partner’s extreme jealousy. If you suspect someone is experiencing abuse, listen with care, avoid judgment, and share resources like the Bridges DVC hotline.

Get Involved:
- Volunteer your time to help with events or donation drives.
- Donate funds or essential items to support those in need.
- Spread awareness by wearing purple, sharing facts, and starting conversations about healthy relationships.
The Impact of Creating a Safe Space:
Every person who finds safety through Bridges represents hope restored. Last year, hundreds of survivors in our community received shelter, counseling, and advocacy through our programs. When we support one survivor, we strengthen families and our entire community.
Together, we can help end domestic violence and build a future where everyone feels safe and supported.
